Scaramouche Restaurant

Scaramouche Restaurant is in a class all by itself when it comes to delivering the very best food, atmosphere and service in the city. The 30-year-old Forest Hill landmark restaurant continues to be awarded numerous domestic and international accolades and rightfully so. From being ranked the #1 restaurant three years in a row (2011, 2012, 2013) by restaurant critic Joanne Kates from Post City Magazines to earning an impressive 28 on Zagat's 30-point scale and securing the #1 spot for "Food in Toronto" in Zagat's 2012 Toronto Dining Survey, it is apparent that owners Keith Froggett (executive chef) and Carl Korte are committed to excellence and will settle for nothing less.

My gorgeous view overlooking the city skyline. I highly recommend getting a window table at Scaramouche.

LA MOBILETTA ($11)
The Italian word for moped, a Mobiletta is a delightfully light, fresh highball cocktail with Campari, lemon and grapefruit juice and topped with soda water, orange garnish
SNAP DRAGON ($11)
A very popular cocktail at Scaramouche, the Snapdragon is a delicious blend of pear nectar and vodka swirled gently over ice with a squeeze of fresh lime and topped with ginger beer, then strained into a chilled martini glass. Grown-up and mysterious!

Scaramouche has it all. As I've already mentioned the restaurant has a spectacular view overlooking the city (really romantic especially during sun set). Service was also phenomenal. Our server was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The ambiance wasn't pretentious at all...it was actually quite relaxed and very comfortable. Last, but not least, the food was outstanding. All our courses had impeccably composed plates and everything tasted marvelous. Classic flavours alongside modern touches, the highlight of the night was undoubtedly the partridge. The dish was complex yet elegant...just exquisite. Every component on the plate was perfect (and to re-iterate the plate was comprised of roasted partridge breast, crispy confit leg, pan-seared foie gras, honey mushrooms, wilted seasonal greens, hazelnuts, jerusalem artichoke, cherries and foie gras jus...trust me it's heaven on a plate). For dessert, Scaramouche's coconut cream pie is iconic. Light fluffy coconut cream with a rich thick custard, this pie is not to be missed (I didn't order it this time because I've had the pie before). Even if you order the coconut cream pie you must try some of their other desserts too 'cause both the dark Valrhona chocolate delice and the caramelized pineapple tart (love the presentation on this one) were excellent.
