"...a casual Italian tavern where people gather to enjoy antipasti with wine, a plate of pasta or Italian feast, all served with the warmth and hospitality of family. Located in Liberty Village, this rustic, casual Italian bar brings with it a philosophy of fresh ingredients and friendly staff..."
I went there for lunch one day with my friend, Manley (@manleyh) and her two friends. Too bad it was already getting too cold for the patio.
The black and red gives off a very modern and sleek feel to the restaurant...so I wouldn't say it's "rustic".
Even though not rustic, I still like the decor at Bar Vespa. I'm a sucker for brick walls (not sure why). I especially like the high ceiling and the bar area.
Various fixtures that caught my eye at Bar Vespa ♥
I need to tell you guys first that this is not a very informative post. As in, I only ordered a salad so I can only comment on that salad. This is why I hardly go out for lunch because who does multi-course lunches? Not me! I eat very little during lunch just so I can binge during dinner =D If I eat lots during lunch too, which I'm sure I can, I will no doubt turn into a fat cow. So I apologize in advance for a very mundane post.
Caprese Salad - Heirloom tomatoes, fresh basil and Buffalo Mozzarella drizzled with extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sea salt ($15) - I had this salad. No complaints at all - all ingredients were very fresh and delicious.
Margherita - Tomato sauce, Buffalo mozzarella, basil ($13) - Manley's friend really liked this pizza.
Prosciutto - Prosciutto, Parmigiano Reggiano, baby arugula drizzled with a light vinaigrette ($15) - Manley says she really liked this pizza as well.
Fresh House Made Pasta - with tomato sauce ($4) - This is a SIDE not a main. Manley's friend has "a stomach the size of a fist" (according to Manley).
A note about the pizzas: Bar Vespa only uses San Morzano D.OP tomatoes and their dough is made fresh everyday using "00" flour from Italy.
I'm hoping to go back to Bar Vespa for dinner sometime soon so I can try more things.
